Faucet concept (2011)
Project examines how user-centred research methods apply to concept planning in the field of water faucets. The research also aims to discover latent user knowledge and identify new product needs in the kitchen and bathroom environments.
According to the needs defined by the user study, three different faucet concepts were designed. Eventually one function, aiding the washing of hands, was developed further into a prototype level. The faucet design was finalized with the help of 3D-printed mock-ups and finally a chrome mock-up. To save time in the development process the new product function was implemented into a production Oras model instead of one designed in the thesis. User feedback which ultimately resolves the future of the product feature will be gathered with this model.
